Monroe will host a Memorial Day Parade on May 26, 2013. The parade will kick off at 1:30 PM leaving Smith Clove Park, making a Left on Mapes Place a right on Carpenter Place and will continue until making a left on Route 17M. The parade will continue to the veterans monument located at Route 17M and Mill Street where a short service will be conducted. The parade will continue to march to the Monroe Cemetery on Route 17m where a service will be conducted.
The Memorial Day Parade is held annually and is an opportunity for patriotic Americans to come together and honor those who have sacrificed so much in service to our country. The event celebrates all those who have served in uniform from the American Revolution to Operation Iraqi Freedom, and seeks to educate the public about the meaning of this hallowed day.
Please expect traffic delays between 1:30-3:30 as the Monroe Police will be closing roads along the parade route.
