Some Local Parking Ordinances
The village of Monroe Police Department strictly enforces Local Ordinances as well as all other New York State Laws.
Overnight parking
There shall be no parking on any street within the village from the period of November 1st to April 1st from 10:00 PM -6:00 AM.
Parking Meters
Parking Meters are regulated everyday except Sundays and public holidays.
Fire Lanes
It is unlawful to park or stand in any area that is marked as a Fire Lane.
Fire Hydrants
It is unlawful to park within 15 feet of a fire hydrant.
Parking by Permit only
Parking by permit only is required when parking in the Commuter parking lot located on Millpond Parkway.
Handicapped Parking
Only vehicles with a handicap license plate or displayed handicap permits are permitted to park in any parking space that is marked for handicap parking.
Other Ordinances
Cleaning up after your pet
The owner of any pet shall clean up after the pet on any public property and no owner of any pet shall allow or permit the pet to urinate or defecate on anyone else's property, parks, playgrounds or thoroughfare without cleaning up after it
Ordinances involving Noise
Unreasonable noise is defined as any sound or a series of sounds so unreasonably loud, noisy, offensive or disruptive as to cause public inconvenience, annoyance or alarm.
Building construction, demolition, alteration, repair or maintenance to any building or property shall only be done between the hours of 7:00 AM-9:00 PM - Monday-Friday and 9:00 AM-9:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.
Garage sales and posting of signs
A permit is required before conducting a garage sale in the village of Monroe. Permits can be obtained from the Village Hall, located at #7 Stage Road.
No signs shall be erected either temporarily or permanently without a permit. This includes hand made signs advertising garage sales, moving sales, etc...
Plowing or Shoveling Snow or other debris onto roadway
It is unlawful for anyone to push, plow, shovel, throw or discard in anyway, snow or other debris onto any roadway.
